My name is Julie Renee Holland. I created One Lucky Mama LLC and a number of other web sites for one simple reason: I believe that every mom is One Lucky Mama. We are all different in many ways - each of us chooses to parent differently. Our kids are certainly unique individuals who have their own needs and personalities. There is one thing we all have in common though - all of us are lucky to be moms. It is my goal to make parenting easier, more fun, and more rewarding in every little way that I can.
I have always believed that each baby is a one-of-a-kind miracle. From my earliest memories, my most fervent desire was to be a mama. I figured that like so many people, motherhood would come easily to me. It just wasn't meant to be that way for me.
You see, I have struggled with infertility my entire adult life. I was diagnosed with polycystic ovarian syndrome when I was 19. It was 17 more years before I finally got pregnant. Staying pregnant was almost as hard as getting pregnant. Uterine bleeding, pre-term labor, months of severe vomiting (morning sickness my foot...), then gestational diabetes all threatened my little girl before she came into this world. I was just a few months pregnant when I started the One Lucky Mama blog - celebrating the gift that is motherhood.
Finally, on a beautiful October day in 2008, my first miracle baby arrived - but she was not breathing well. For about 15 minutes the medical staff rushed around trying to clear her lungs and get her breathing. They even called the NICU (neonatal intensive care unit) to tell them she was on her way to them. Then, finally, she was breathing on her own. She was pronounced healthy and my baby was placed in my arms for the first time. After so many years of heartache and months of worry, I was finally One Lucky Mama to a little girl who still has me wrapped around her tiny, perfect finger.
Lightening struck twice for us - after 6 more years of waiting. We finally brought home a second healthy baby in March of 2015. While she is making our lives a bit crazy as she settles in earth-side, we are so grateful that after another difficult pregnancy (more bleeding, more high blood pressure, more preeclampsia, more gestational diabetes!) and an emergency csection - our little miracle baby made her debut. The two sisters are delighted to be getting to know one another and we are so thrilled to finally have two perfect miracles.
Thanks to this site, and the others that I have created - I am able to stay home and work while I raise my daughters. When you purchase from One Lucky Mama - you are helping me to support my girls. Thank you!
